Raul Roberto Montano was born in Douglas Arizona on 6/7/1939. Douglas is a small town that borders Agua Prieta Mexico. His father was full blooded Yaqui Indian who educated himself and worked as a Mexican Customs Agent. His mother was born in Chihuahua Mexico and her career was a full time housewife and mother of 7 children. Raul was the oldest and lived in Sonora Mexico until he was 7. After that they moved to Douglas Arizona when they purchased the house that he and all his siblings grew up in. During his high school years he participated in football and choir. Hobbies were guns and hunting. He would often hunt in the Chrichahuas and Cochise. As a Junior in high school he worked in a sports shop and met Raymond Burr (Perry Mason) on one of his fishing trips to Mexico. Raul married young and had 4 children from his first marriage. His first daughter Sylvia Francisca was born when he was 18. Unfortunately she died as an infant due to a heart condition. Sylvia Cristina, Roberto Antonio, Raul Francisco followed. In 1962 he moved to California in search of better job opportunities. He met Corinne and they married after 3 months of dating. Corinne had a 4 year old son Arnold Anthony who Raul adopted. Yvette Cristine was born a year after they were married. Raul and Corinne also raised and adopted Arnold Montano Jr as their own son. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in October 2012. He attended East Los Angeles Community College and obtained 2 AA degrees. One in Mathematics and one in Liberal Studies. He continued to study at Cal State Los Angeles and received a degree in Elementry Education. Raul was a Knight of Colunbus at Saint Luke Church and an avid volunteer at many events. Raul was an outgoing friendly man with a kind heart who loved to talk to people and tell jokes. He never met a stranger he did not like and always put others needs before his own. A true christain man. He was so very proud of all his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He would often brag about their accomplishments. What a legacy he leaves behind. We are sure you all have stories of how he entertained you or touched your lives. Raul was always a hard working man and worked in many fields over his life.
