Marion Houser passed away in Chino Hills, California on March 17, 2025 at the age of 80. He was born in Centerville, Iowa on May 18, 1944 to Rex Houser & Hazel Fogle Houser. In 1965 he married Jolene Van Dorin in Moravia, Iowa. For 16 years they made their home in Cantril, Iowa where Marion had an antique auto restoration shop. During that time he played drums for the HiWay Band, along with Jolene & others playing throughout Iowa & northern Missouri. After moving to southern California. Marion served as a technical instructor for Dynatron Bondo, covering the western US. In 1994 he opened the Eagle's Nest Gallery, a Native American/Western retail store in Upland, California. Marion was adept at making leather jackets, dresses, bags, holsters, etc., woodworking, and paintings. He and Jolene ran the shop for 30 years, retiring in 2024. During those years they participated in a Native American naming ceremony in Big Bear, CA and in the Lakota Sioux Sun Dance on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Marion was also a member of two western reenactment groups and enjoyed bit parts in seven movies.
Marion was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jerry and sister-in-law Carol Houser. He is survived by his wife, Jolene, son Terry (Jodi) Houser, daughter, Stacy (Juan) Preciado, grandson Craig (Prairie) Carter, grandson Will Nikonchuk, and great granddaughter, Hannah Carter.
The family is having a celebration of life at a later date.
