Henry Louis
Medina
Jul 12, 1930 — Jan 17, 2016
Henry "Hank" Louis Medina, 85, of Orange, California, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2016.
Henry was born on July 12, 1930 in Chillicothe, Illinois, to Jose and Trinidad Medina. He had seven brothers and two sisters. He lived in Chillicothe until he left for the Air Force in 1952. Before joining the service, he met his future wife, Julia (Marroquin), at a dance in a neighboring town. While he was stationed in Germany during the Korean War, the two exchanged letters and then began a serious courtship following his return home. They were married on April 12, 1958.
Henry graduated from Bradley University (Peoria, IL) in 1960 with a B.S. degree in accounting. Shortly thereafter, he and Julia moved to California where they raised their four children. With his accounting degree, Henry built a career of nearly 30 years in the aerospace industry as a budget analyst (both in Long Beach CA and St. Louis MO), eventually retiring in 1992 from the Long Beach McDonnell Douglas.
Nothing was more important than spending time with his family—whether it was attending his sons' ball games, taking the family up to Lake Arrowhead, helping with homework, leading his kids in chores :-), or providing "handyman" help to his adult children—Henry was a good husband, father and grandfather. He even found time to run five marathons, running the last one in Big Sur at the age of 64.
Henry surrendered his life to Jesus Christ when he was 74 and then five years later made a public decision for Christ by being baptized.
Henry is survived by his wife, Julia and their four children, Michelle Blood (Stephen) Mark Medina (Tracy), Maureen Beckman (Joel) and Michael Medina (Yvonne). He also leaves behind a legacy of six grandchildren (Joseph Medina-Blood, Curtis Beckman, Amanda Medina, Jonathan Medina, Haley Medina, and Jada Medina) and a great-grandson (Jameson Medina). Henry is also survived by his sister Teresa Gusman of Chillicothe IL and brother Bill Medina of Pekin, IL.
