Obituary

Helen Finger-Keiser was born in the afternoon of Sunday December 03, 1950. Married to Bryon Keiser on April 13, 1999 and is survived by her sisters Ruth Finger, Sue Bitner. Aunt Mary Seaton. Children Robert Finger and Lorena Lott. Grandchildren Devon, Deshon, Kaliana & Ethan. Her cousins Beverly Radford and Judi Pease, along with many other cousins, nieces and nephews. Helen dedicated her life to Jehovah at the tender age of ten in 1961 at the "United Worshipers" District Assembly. In 1976 she started a new life in East Los Angeles California and was invited to stay with Ruben and Paula Cobos where she was encouraged to enter the full time ministry which she enthusiastically accepted. Two years later she relocated to Bell Gardens when her mother Dorothy Knapp moved to California in 1978. During the following year her mother needed medical attention where she met Dr. Lapin. (Thus began the whirlwind of bloodless medicine.) It was during this time that she also met Dr. Vinod Malhotra and formed a business relationship that began the early days of bloodless medicine and surgery. BRIEF HISTORY OF BLOODLESS MEDICINE Her involvement with bloodless led to the privilege of being invited by the World Headquarters of Jehovah's Witnesses where she played a key roll in the development of the "Hospital Liaison Committee" (HLC) and the "Patient Visitation Group" (PVG) that provide pastoral care. Her success was instrumental in pioneering bloodless medicine and spawned the growth of blood conservation centers throughout the world. Over the years she had the privilege of establishing many programs throughout the country. And was personally blessed to see thousands of friends that came through her program receive the help they needed. Helen opened her home and provided hospitality to thousands. She had a very generous spirit. On some occasions, those who came to her with life threatening problems had no insurance, or any way to pay for their own procedures. Without hesitation Helen, would pay for their care out of her own pocket. Always trusting that Jehovah would take care of her in other ways. She was driven by a deep love for God and an intense love for the brotherhood. She had such an exceptional empathy and compassion for everyone, that you couldn't help but love her. It was as if she "poured out" her life, fighting with a burning zeal to make sure all those under her care received the best treatment she could find. -- Phil. 2:17 She was exceedingly intuitive and discerning. She always had a captive audience. Respecting her boundaries, she won the respect and admiration of hospital administrators, doctors and nursing staff when informing them of God's prohibition on blood (Acts 15:20), or her knowledge of blood conservation methods, always finding a way to bring honor to Jehovah God (Ps. 83:18). She gave an outstanding witness. PERSONAL LIFE In 1999 Helen met and married the love of her life Bryon Keiser through her family's long time friends Merle and Flora Keiser who also came under her care. She would always light up whenever she talked about him with the friends. They first met when Flora and Helen's sister Ruthie would speak so highly of Bryon, that when invited to hear his first public talk, she wasn't really all that interested, she would reply scoffingly, "their number one" with a little twist on one side of her mouth and later said to her mother-in-law "I wasn't impressed"; considering she had been back to the World Headquarters of Jehovah's Witnesses and all over the country; she had been exposed to some of the most well trained speakers in the world! Little did she realize that in just a few more years, she would be married to him. They got off to a pretty rocky start when several of their immediate family members died in the first few months of their marriage. They both found comfort in each other and in Jehovah (Eccl. 4:12). She quickly displayed a deep love and respect for Bryon and was always "Johny-on-the-spot" whenever he needed something. She was a true complement. Helen touched our lives in so many ways. Her presence will be sorely missed. We look forward to being reunited with her during the resurrection, to hear her laugh and see her bright smile along with all the other loved ones we lost in death.
